Nani Rizzi Gran Cuvee Ergi Prosecco Valdobbiadene Superiore Extra Dry   £15.99 btl
Nani Rizzi, a Family-run Azienda Agricola in Valdobbiadene, has been cultivating and producing high quality Prosecco since 1887, using grapes from the hills of Guia (Valdobbiadene).  Denis Spagnol continues the work which had been started by his grandfather Giovanni, known as “Nani Rizzi”, and then continued by his father Ergi.
Straw yellow in colour.  The nose starts with notes of lemon and fresh ripe fruits and then leads into acacia honey and elderflower notes.  The palate is dry and refreshing, the ripe white fruits come through but at the back comes notes of honey and a little tone of white bread.  Fresh acidity on the finish.
This is the best Prosecco of 2016, as voted for by the brotherhood of Prosecco growers at their annual taste off and charity auction. Forget the mass produced stuff, this is what made Prosecco famous in the first place!
Idylle d' Achinos 2016 - La Tour Melas Rosé  £25.99 btl
Just outside the village Achinos in Fthiotida, Kyros Melas created a winery that has nothing to envy from renowned wineries of France. Sacrificing production for the sake of quality, he and his team make the 100 years old vines reach their limits by limiting their productivity to a minimum. Biodynamic, organic farming and dense planting harden plants to unprecedented concentration levels with their energy taking care of just a few bunches per vine.
Pale, almost transparent, salmon-pink in the glass it has a smooth, elegant nose with dominant notes of juicy, ripe cherries and strawberries.
There is well balanced crisp acidity which, on the palate, gives you pomegranate, strawberry, cherries, peach, pink grapefruit, citron and candied apple that all come together in a beautifully long and slightly citrusy finish.
A moreish wine which tastes of summer and instantly transports you to the shores of your favourite Mediterranean beach.
