West Road wines on tasting 07_1_17
2016 Hawksdrift Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough New Zealand
The wonderful wines of Hawksdrift are grown and produced in the Dillons Point region of Marlborough.  This part of the region receives more sunshine hours than most other and therefore has a much longer ripening period.  This allows more complexity to develop in the grapes.  This then leads to a wine of texture which is enhanced by lees ageing and a palate of gooseberry, papaya and passion fruit.  All this and only 12.5% alcohol which might be necessary following an over indulgent Christmas and New Year.
£15.99p/b, 2 for £30, 6 for £80 and £150 per dozen

2015 The Scoundrel Shiraz Magpie Estate Barossa Valley Australia
This beauty is a collaboration of like minded Rhone Rangers.  Specialising in the grape varieties from the afore mentioned French wine region Noel Young, a fellow Vindependent and Rolf Binder, a top Barossa wine producer.
Between them they have brought us this densely fruited liquorice and black cherry compote with a subtle influence of French and American oak.  Perfect for warming the cockles on a cold, dreary January evening.
£14.99p/b, 6 for £75
