Church Street wine On Tasting

October is here and in antidote to all that Kiwi Pinot Noir it's time to switch it up a bit and show our support to Sergio Garcia, and what better way than to launch our month celebrating Rioja in all its forms and regions.

This weekend's wines on tasting are from our favourite producer Luis Cañas and we spoilt for choice!  Remember Rioja isn't just red!

2015  Luis Cañas Blanco Fermentado en Barrica
A beautifully balanced example of white Rioja that straddles the styles of the old and the new. Vibrant citrussy Viura is blended with the more weighty Malvasia and the brief barrel maturation adds a honeyed roundness to the crisp lemony fruit. Beautiful golden yellow colour with bright lemon-tinted reflections. Elegant, combining hints of flowers, fruits and hazelnuts. Dry, with just enough acidity to make it fresh and lively with a structured and tasty finish of ripe fruit.

20013  Luis Cañas Crianza
The Crianza from Cañas is made from 95% tempranillo and 5% garnacha. It's bright ruby red in colour and has a distinct fruity nose demonstrating it's youthful character with cherry and berry fruits, backed up with a hint of vanilla and ceder from a gentle oaking. Subtle rounded tannins and a dash of acidity make this a fabulously drinkable wine.
